Our mission
The family court system in England and Wales is one of the most consequential parts of the justice system — and one of the least accessible. Thousands of people each year represent themselves without a solicitor because they cannot afford one, do not know where to start, or are too frightened to engage.
Peredur exists to change that. We provide plain-English guidance, intelligent AI assistance through Percy, and direct connections to support services — so that every person, regardless of income or background, can approach the family court with greater confidence.
We believe access to justice is a right, not a privilege. We are committed to building a platform that upholds that principle — including full support for the Welsh language, in recognition of the statutory right of Welsh speakers to use Cymraeg in court proceedings.
How we work
Information, not advice
Peredur provides legal information to help you understand your situation and options. We do not provide legal advice, and nothing on this platform creates a solicitor–client relationship. When advice is needed, we help you find it.
Safety first
Domestic abuse and child protection signals are treated as hard escalation triggers. Percy is trained to recognise these situations and to connect users immediately with emergency services and specialist support — no exceptions.
Privacy by design
We collect only what is necessary. Conversations are pseudonymised, PII is scrubbed from logs, and users can exercise their full GDPR rights at any time — including the right to erasure.
Welsh language commitment
Mae gennych hawl i ddefnyddio’r Gymraeg yn y llys. We are committed to providing all core functionality in Welsh as well as English, and to surfacing Welsh-language court resources wherever they are available.
The team
Peredur is built by a small, multidisciplinary team with experience across family law, legal technology, and user-centred design. Our advisers include practising family solicitors, a McKenzie Friend with ten years of court experience, and researchers specialising in access to justice.
We work closely with domestic abuse charities, CAFCASS, and local law centres to ensure our guidance reflects the real experiences of people going through the family court system.
